Busless Blues
Hey friends, neighbors and fellow gospel music lovers! I’m finally getting around to updating some of the Patriot Quartet’s activities and upcoming events. I don’t know where all this “retirement leisure time” goes. It seems the older I get the faster the world turns and the less time I have to do “stuff”. Ever feel that way?
Since the NQC the Patriots have really been busy. I noted that in a two week period there we had eleven concerts! While we loved ever minute of the singing, it was kinda hard on some of our “High Note” singers’ voices. However, it was a blessing that most of these concerts were fairly close to home, since our bus is still our of commission. We’ve really missed the comfort and convenience of the bus and are hoping to be back in it soon. Please help us pray for that. Another blessing of singing so much close to home is seeing a lot of our close friends in the area. Many of them (I can’t name everyone here, but you know who you are) traveled to nearly all of those concerts with us. We really do love and appreciate you guys! We also love and appreciate the church folks and dear pastors whom we visited over that period. Your support is an important part of our ministry.
I do want to mention that since the NQC we have had the opportunity to sing twice at Renfro Valley; once on a friday night gospel sing in the “Red Barn” and again at their Appalachian Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 7th. We had a great time both stops. We made a lot of new friends and renewed a lot of old friendships there. Our sincere thanks to Mr. Larry Day for making that possible. We look forward to the possibility of even more association with him and with Renfro Valley in the coming year.
This last weekend we spent with some very close friends in the Danville, Il area. On Saturday night we sang at the Greer Building in Fairmount, Il. where the Greer family is doing a great job of keeping Southern Gospel Music available to the folks in that area. I know we join a lot of other groups in expressing our appreciation to them for their faithfulness and support. On Sunday morning we sang at the Central Park Church of Christ in Tilton, Il. It was certainly a blessing for us to sing for these folks who have become such family to us. It was their homecoming and so we enjoyed a lot of good fellowship and much too much food!
I want to remind you that the Patriot Quartet Homecoming sing will be this upcoming weekend, Oct. 20-21, at the United Methodist Church located at the corner of US 127 and Carpenters Drive in Lawrenceburg, KY. We’re all excited about it and are expecting a great time in the Lord! Check the schedule area of this site for more information.
We are truly blessed (even though we sometimes sing the Busless BLues)!
